Hotel Ca´n Simoneta

It happened to us again.
There are times when you walk into a hotel and your jaw literally drops to the floor in amazement. This is exactly what happened when we visited the Hotel Can Simoneta.
It starts the moment you drive up the long, arrow-straight driveway, flanked by old olive trees. The beautifully presented reception area exudes a sense of serenity and we were promptly given a warm, hearty welcome by the friendly manager (and we hadn't even introduced ourselves yet!)
He simply could not wait to show us around his hotel which so obviously is his absolute pride and joy and it does not take long to discover that this is indeed a place to be very proud of.
At the back of the hotel, we found ourselves on an enormous lawn, no doubt the envy of many an amateur football club. The truly phenomenal views of the sea, cliffs and sailboats gliding by in the distance give this place a real wow factor. Don't forget, you are quite high up here because of the hotel's spectacular location on top of a cliff (which is also the reason for the hotel's no-children policy for children under the age of 14).
After recomposing ourselves following initial impressions, it was time to take a look around the hotel itself.
There are 18 suites in total, no mention of the word 'rooms' in this place! They range from junior suites, junior suites with terrace up to luxury suites (with own Jacuzzi) and the Neptuno suite, a small cottage with private swimming pool. Almost all of the suites offer a unique sea view. The suites are arranged over two buildings which are over 140 years old and have recently been completely renovated to create this hotel, so the hotel itself is fairly new.
As for the restaurant, top chef Raúl Resino's creations are entirely in keeping with this context, totally amazing! Beautiful dishes, with a modern presentation and served on the summer terrace, overlooking the bay, or if it is a little too chilly, inside by the open fire.
And there is plenty to do in this fabulous hotel. Sit back in one of the many seats which are dotted all over the huge grounds and enjoy a nice chat, or go down the steps leading to the clear, blue sea and take a refreshing dip, take a stroll around the grounds, go for a walk along the private cliff path, laze about in one of the outdoor Jacuzzis, get stuck into a thrilling book whilst lying in a covered hammock, go for a swim in the large swimming pool, practise various (water) sports, sample the delicious food, and above all, in the evenings, enjoy the most magical sunsets which will stay with you for the rest of your life. Very special!
