Barcelona

As a metropolis, Barcelona offers a huge range of hotels, catering to all tastes and, no matter what your budget is, you will always find something to suit your needs. However ... in the lower price ranges it can be a little bit tricky to find a nice hotel which is also situated in a great location.
After a fair amount of research, we managed to come across, among others, the Hotel Next To. This hotel gave us some good vibes with its nice fresh and modern decor; cheerful, young, easy-going staff and very reasonable prices!
As far as location is concerned, this hotel is not exactly situated in the heart of the art district, but rather right next to it! It is located really close to the Passeig de Gracia and several of Gaudi's artworks are within walking distance, including La Pedrera and Casa Battló.
The hotel has 17 rooms which have been decorated in a minimalist style, with fresh colour schemes and they are all clean. There is both a roof terrace and a small interior garden where you can put your feet up after a day of sightseeing. The rooms and bathrooms are not overly big but you do have to consider this against the very favourable prices. Incidentally, the showers are heavenly!
We are also receiving very positive feedback about the excellent, reasonably priced breakfast.
Within short walking distance, you will find 3 metro lines and, if you fancy it, the tourist bus also passes by, making Hotel Next To an excellent base from which to explore the city. And with its good price-quality ratio, you will certainly not have to spend too much money, something we feel is always a bonus!

Cons:
• The rooms are basic but you do have to consider this against the sharp prices

Pros:
• Fresh, clean decor with nice cheerful colours
• Perfect location from which to explore the city
• Metro lines within short walking distance
• Excellent breakfast
• Roof terrace with showers

surrounding area

Barcelona
Barcelona is a popular destination and you can easily see why. This city has literally got it all: numerous places of interest; a fabulous, clean beach; plenty of pavement cafés; good food; trendy shops and a vibrant nightlife!

As far as places of interest are concerned, you are absolutely spoilt for choice! To list but a few:
How about taking a look around Gaudi's works of art: park Güell, La Sagrada Familia, Casa La Pedrera/Casa Milà.
You can work your way around the city's places of interest district by district. For instance, in the old city, you will find the cathedral and many art museums, Museu Picasso and, of course, also historic buildings such as Casa de la Ciutat, Palau de la Generalitat.

Take a stroll down the Rambla (although we think that the more northerly Rambla de Catalunya is more worthwhile!).
In the Eixample district, you will find de Sagrada Familia but do not forget about the Modernista buildings (such as Casa Milà, La Pedrera, Casa Terrades, Hospital de la Santa).
Shop until you drop in the fashionable shops along the Passeig del Gràcia.
Take the little train up to the top of the Montjuïc hill to the Castell de Montjuïc, take a moment to enjoy the fantastic view of de city and then visit the Plaça d´Espanya, the Poble Espanyol (copy of a Spanish village built in different Spanish architectural styles) and various museums.
And there is also something of interest for the football enthusiasts among you: the Museu del Futbol Club Barcelona which, combined with a tour of the stadium, is a fabulous attraction in itself (particularly great for dads and their sons).

And when you have had your fill of the city's abundant cultural offerings for awhile, simply head to the beach of Barceloneta with its groovy beach tents for some good food and flashy cocktails. The city's motto seems to be to enjoy life to the max and why not?

So as you can see, there is never a dull moment in this top city. One visit will leave you wanting for one thing only... to return for another visit soon!
