Hotel Actual

Barcelona

If, like Hotel Actual, you aim to be the best boutique hotel in Barcelona, you really have to pull out all the stops.
And let us reassure you straightaway, Hotel Actual does just that.
It is housed in an ultra clean-lined building, set in a good location, on the corner of the Rosellón and the Passeig de Gracia. You will have plenty of opportunity here to indulge in some serious shopping: Giorgio Armani, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana, Yves St.Laurent, all the big names are here. On top of this, there are also a large number of places of interest within walking distance of the hotel as well as many excellent restaurants. Plaza de Catalunya is situated within 10 minutes' walking distance.

The hotel dates from 2001 and has been regularly updated since then, primarily to maintain its contemporary feel.

The hotel has a meticulous, modern design but it certainly does not have an austere feel about it. In terms of the number of rooms (36), this is not a huge hotel and as such it has a nice homely feel to it. However, the hotel does aim to provide the same level of professional service generally associated with big hotels.
The hotel is characterised by beautiful details, carefully considered combinations and a predominantly brown, beige and white decor which exudes a real sense of tranquillity.

As in many city hotels, there is no restaurant at the hotel itself as there is a great choice of places to eat within short walking distance. We have heard positive noises, however, about the well-presented, ample breakfast buffet.
If you are travelling by car, there are excellent parking facilities in the form of a large car park opposite the hotel. However, you won't really need a car to get out and about in the city as there is an underground station right next to the hotel.

And last but not least, we feel that the prices charged here are more than reasonable for this type of hotel!

Cons:
• None to speak of unless perhaps the fact that there is no roof terrace

Pros:
• Beautiful modern rooms
• Very clean and tidy
• Friendly staff
• Great location, with many boutiques in the area
• Well-priced

surrounding area

Barcelona
Barcelona is a popular destination and you can easily see why. This city has literally got it all: numerous places of interest; a fabulous, clean beach; plenty of pavement cafés; good food; trendy shops and a vibrant nightlife!

As far as places of interest are concerned, you are absolutely spoilt for choice! To list but a few:
How about taking a look around Gaudi's works of art: park Güell, La Sagrada Familia, Casa La Pedrera/Casa Milà.
You can work your way around the city's places of interest district by district. For instance, in the old city, you will find the cathedral and many art museums, Museu Picasso and, of course, also historic buildings such as Casa de la Ciutat, Palau de la Generalitat.

Take a stroll down the Rambla (although we think that the more northerly Rambla de Catalunya is more worthwhile!).
In the Eixample district, you will find de Sagrada Familia but do not forget about the Modernista buildings (such as Casa Milà, La Pedrera, Casa Terrades, Hospital de la Santa).
Shop until you drop in the fashionable shops along the Passeig del Gràcia.
Take the little train up to the top of the Montjuïc hill to the Castell de Montjuïc, take a moment to enjoy the fantastic view of de city and then visit the Plaça d´Espanya, the Poble Espanyol (copy of a Spanish village built in different Spanish architectural styles) and various museums.
And there is also something of interest for the football enthusiasts among you: the Museu del Futbol Club Barcelona which, combined with a tour of the stadium, is a fabulous attraction in itself (particularly great for dads and their sons).

And when you have had your fill of the city's abundant cultural offerings for awhile, simply head to the beach of Barceloneta with its groovy beach tents for some good food and flashy cocktails. The city's motto seems to be to enjoy life to the max and why not?

So as you can see, there is never a dull moment in this top city. One visit will leave you wanting for one thing only... to return for another visit soon!
